Life is always a dance: up followed by down, tension followed by release, connection followed by disconnection. When we resist we tend to center the difficult times. Unintentionally, we can keep them in play longer, associating more experiences with them, sometimes even building a personality, a reality or an idea of what we get to have in life.
During this evening, we’ll explore that struggle through the five hindrances: desire, aversion, dullness, restlessness, and doubt. These familiar experiences can leave us feeling that meditation isn’t working. They also give us something to investigate. How does wanting feel in the body? What do we notice when we’re restless? What happens when we give an uncomfortable feeling some time and attention?
Presence and curiosity become the practice: not techniques applied to a feeling, but a way of being with it that lets the body find its own way toward ease, in its own time. What gets cultivated here is a transferable skill—the capacity to stay in relationship with not-knowing, with what can’t be controlled or resolved on schedule, so uncertainty becomes something you can meet rather than something you brace against. I'll offer strategies ranging from meditations to body-based interventions and ways to cut through the noise with wisdom & compassion. We will also explore the potential for resting back and riding life's waves with grace and equanimity.
