What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is an active form of meditation that uses a two-part breath to shift stuck emotional energy. This clearing out can happen in our physical self as well as in out belief systems. When we breathe consciously and with purpose- focusing all of our attention on that- it has the ability to bypass the thinking mind, allowing us to stay with the felt sense in the body. Because we aren’t engaged in defending, or blaming, or the other ways we shut down around our feelings- the breath is able partner with our nervous system, helping us to flush out some of the emotional bracing or baggage that we might be carrying. Shifting stuck emotional energy facilitates the release of strong emotions like anger and grief in their pure, felt form. Most people describe feeling softer, more spacious and less burdened.

The Judson Memorial Church has served as a home for experimental, boundary-pushing art, social justice and spirituality for many decades in NYC. We are excited and very grateful to have them as a supporting host for our monthly Gatherings.
Psychedelic Sangha is a spiritual collective of Buddhist psychonauts who share a commitment to the dharma and a belief in the value of psychedelic substances. Our public mission is to facilitate the encounter of psychedelics and the dharma in a spirit of critical dialogue, community-building, and navigational group practice. We organize and host meet-up Gatherings, immersive Happenings, public talks, group retreats, music performances, film screenings, and more (see all events).
Psychedelic Sangha offers a safe and supportive spiritual community with a commitment to discernment, practice, and play. We are not allied with any particular tradition or school. We provide refuge for misfit Buddhists and psychonauts who value both dharma practice and psychedelic exploration, but are willing to interrogate them both along the path towards greater insight and engaged action.
